The *New* Valorin.net released!!
Posted by Valorin @ 12th May
Today I switched over the A record for valorin.net to point to my new server. This means that you should now be seeing my new website design when you go to http://valorin.net/... Although, the fact you are here means otherwise, or you are vising this old site.
I have left this one online, mostly incase I need to get stuff from it, but also cos its easier then coping all my junk over!
Um yeah, I am very happy with the new design, so stop waiting time here and go and check it out! http://valorin.net/

P.s. Yes, there is no-longer a new pages. I may introduce a blog/news section sometime, but for the moment it is fine as it is.
New design coming soon...

Portalv3 alpha & infullswing.org.au
Posted by Valorin @ 19th Jan, 2007
Well, it finally happened. I finally managed to release Arendorian Portalv3! It took me a few months, but now there is an Alpha version available. Being in alpha, it is still full of bugs and the admin interface needs a fair amount of work, but the page generation works well!
I'm going to try and get a beta out before Uni starts again, and hopefully release a stable v3 before the end of the mid-semester break. And then, polish it off into v3.1 and leave it! It has the potential to be very stable and survive a long life... Portalv2 is doing a good job of this as well actually.
As a shameless way to test this new portal, I used it as the CMS for the website I designed and run for my Band: In Full Swing. http://infullswing.org.au/ is the address, so go take a look. It's not that impressive, but it proves Portalv3 can work for small-scale websites without giving issues with bad HTML generation. (Ignoring the fact that the output HTML is 100% user-specified.)
Anyway, that is all from me.

Well, 3 years ago to the day Valorin.net suddenly appeared online. There have been many changes, however one thing has stayed the same...
...
No idea what it is, but I'm sure I will think of something eventually.
Happy Birthday Valorin.net!
www is no more
Posted by Valorin @ 8th, Nov, 2006
It is the middle of the exam period. I have one tomorrow, and one next week. And so, I spent the last hour playing with .htaccess. I was trying to fix a problem on my testing server, which I eventually did.
Anyway, I discovered something while I was doing it. It is a little .htaccess code which removes the www from a site! Cool eh?
You may not think so, but one of my pet peeves is that people use the www. subdomain yet it is ugly and a waste of space.
Now, with this new script: http://www.valorin.net/main/ will point straight to http://valorin.net/main/ Try any link with the www. and it will be removed.
Here is the code...
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.valorin.net$ [nc]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://valorin.net/$1 [r=301,nc,L]
